Founded in Tyler, Texas in 2022 by adoptees for adoptees. Jennifer Showers a domestic adoptee, and Katya Reach an international adoptee, identified the need for support in local communities for adoptees as adults regardless of their age. The complexity that is adoption is a lifelong journey.

Mission Statement
Adoptees of East Texas is a community that seeks to enhance support for adoptees in East Texas. By connecting adoptees in their own communities and engaging in advocacy efforts locally, adoption support expands to include specific needs adoptees encounter throughout their lifetime.
“Traditionally, adoption support services are for birth mothers, adoptive parents, or children going through the foster care and adoption process. Adoptees can benefit from support throughout their lifelong journey.”

“People don’t often disclose being adopted and it may not be visibly evident. This resource is an avenue for adoptees to connect and support one another as a community of people with many commonalities and differences.”
